It’s wild to read the Bible and discover who God used to advance his Kingdom. In
fact when Jesus came into the world at Christmas you would think that God would
pick the best of best to be his parents and friends. Maybe he would select a
successful business man to be his earthly father. Maybe he would pick a celebrity
chef to be his mother. And yet he chose a teenage Jewish girl who no one knew, and
a blue collar carpenter who had no earthly success we know of, to carry the
responsibility of ushering the King of Kings into the world. Then you throw in
shepherds, barn animals, and a manager, and the whole thing seems upside down.
The Biblical heroes we read about are actually more relatable than we often realize.
The Bible teaches us that God only uses broken things. He has chosen to use the
foolish things of the world to confound the wise. What impresses God and what
impresses the world are often very different things. In this series we will talk about
what kind of people God actually chooses to use to usher in His Son and His
Kingdom into this broken world this Christmas season.
