Monica is the Connect Director at Captivate Church. She has been on staff since the launch of the church in 2018 and is passionate about all things hospitality. From the flag you see on the street, to the smile you get at the front door, to a hot cup of coffee with a fresh donut, and everything in between. Monica oversees one of the biggest teams at our church to make our guest experience as warm and hospitable as possible, in hopes for people to encounter the radical love of God and how much He loves them. We all remember our first time going somewhere, maybe even a new church, and having feelings of nerves of the unknown, it's Monica's hope for every person to come in and experience acceptance and a family that will love them with open arms.
Born and raised in San Diego, Monica got her bachelor's degree from San Diego State University in Gerontology in which she worked in her field at St. Paul's PACE serving homeless seniors adults. After a year of incredible work, she felt the call into working in ministry where she worked on staff at Skyline Church as the Senior Adults Director. She worked there, as well as served alongside her husband who was the Young Adult Pastor, refining tools and gifting that God would use in her near future. It was in 2017, the dream of Captivate Church became a reality and her and her family walked into the adventure of preparing to plant a church.
Monica and her husband Weston, have been doing ministry together since the day they met, and pray that God would continue to use them to share the Gospel and love people for the rest of their lives. They also have two young kids, Levi (2) and Zayla (4mo). While Monica loves serving the church, her first passion will always be her family.
